Description

It's pages like this which make me wonder if Mantlo was initially intending to do a storytelling experiment - with the MICRONAUTS story along the bottom panels of the book, and the native story along the top, only intersecting when they reach the confrontation with the Baron. At least part of the story reads that way, and the only reason it does, is that the panels were cut up and rearranged that way. (Byrne had already tried this trick, with an issue of Fantastic Four)

This issue comes across as being a little confused in what story it wants to tell, or how to tell it.

I like it! You can tell artistically where Jones' inks went on this one lending a heavier atmosphere to a typical tight detailed Guice work!

Yes, I recall how each half of the page told part of the parallel story. Interesting that this was an editorial decision late in the game, judging by the piecemeal fabrication of the finished pages. This was the end of my Micronauts collection since I bought off of spinner racks, and the series went Direct Market. But I remembered Guice's artwork and have looked for it in various series ever since.
