DescriptionThe Mighty Thor and the Warriors Three strike at the seemingly unstoppable Mangog, the manifestation of a billion beings who were killed by Odin. Hate feeds and grows Mangog, and so Thor’s efforts are doing more harm than good! Odin eventually casts a spell to separate Mangog from the hate feeding him, but the spell kills Odin as well - although Thor’s hammer stills time around Odin, leaving him in a state of stasis. But essentially, it’s another “Death of Odin” story!Buscema packs the panels with the titanic fight scenes, and the central tumbling figure of Thor tells the tale of the hopelessness of the battle. Great page. Love the 2nd panel in particular. The helmet flying off Thor's head is a nice touch!

Thanks! Yes, the helmet is an unusual feature. I'm not sure that it got knocked off that often, strangely.

So, so, SO much to love about this page - Big John playing seamlessly with these great Kirby designs, and I really dig the third panel with all the beautiful chaos.

Ha ha! Hopefully, he didn't dispatch them all one at a time, swinging his spear. Those are Galactus or Thanos level numbers.

BEAUTIFUL, Kirby-infused layout, with Big John puttin' his thang down and landing a solid blow for overpowered, immortally-charged hate monsters everywhere (as Thor finds out). This thing fairly crackles with life and energy, Paul, with that last panel of the dour and stately elder gods (perfectly stacked to account for both the gravity of the situation and seamless word balloon placement!) being my favorite. SO cool! What an add, Paul! Great start to 2026 (and I hope you have a fantastic one :) )!

Yes, that is a bit of an epic claim for an immortal villain.

I don't recall his helment getting knocked off that often, so I'd like to imagine that the event summons an elite force of Valkyrie to carry the helmet to Valhalla.

Pages like this is a great reminder why people consider John Buscema the Michaelanelo of comics. The anatomy looks amazing in this battle page. Love the middle panel!

JB raises the action and orchestrates a vibrancy in the linework like strings of a violin!

Yes, Vinnie put in the hours on this one, and reminds us why he was so good on Thor - for Kirby as well as Buscema.

Ha ha! So true, Brian, but I hadn't thought of it that way before. That seemed to happen a lot in the series.

Thor, Odin, ground breaking action, Balder and I think another Thor friend (Holguin?). Wonderful! Congratulations Paul!
