Drew Struzan
Before I had comic art on my walls, as a teenager I had posters. And the best of them were movie posters signed "drew". Before I even learned his full name, I could recognize the style and talent of this "drew": he was the most talented draftsman whose work I encountered and had access to in my farm boy everyday life in the late 80s and early 90s.
Drew Struzan already had a website in the late 90s, showing and selling his work. I had modestly started collecting original comic art, but could only dream of Drew Struzan original art. I heard of some commissions, but didn't ever have a chance to acquire one.
I started thinking that maybe it would never be possible for me to get an original "drew" for my wall.
Now that I found some Struzan art, I was almost taken by surprise by the realization that I could actually afford to buy a piece or two. I'd almost pushed it out of my mind as something that could never happen.
Now things come full circle in a very happy way for me: I can actually hang a couple of Drew Struzan originals on my wall the way I used to have his posters as a kid. (This time I probably won't place them on my wardrobe doors like I did then, though.)
