NASSER...I like Mike... Nasser / Netzer published art

Nasser. Or Netzer. It depends on when Mike drew it.

My general rule is: any art before the 1990's is credited to Nasser, since that's how most people know Mike anyway. Art from the 1990's or later is credited to Nasser in the title and credited to Netzer and Nasser in the Artwork Details section when viewing the piece.

Say what you want about Mike. But I like his art. He was Neal Adams' protege. They've had their ups and downs and then some. But Mike does some great art. His style and technique has changed a few times and he's caught some flack. To criticize Mike for drawing in Adams' style is a disservice to many other artists who also learned under Adams (you know who they are). And many of those artists probably didn't stray too far from the master for a while. However, I think Mike's style has enough "quirks" to set himself apart. Further, there are several artists who draw in Adam's style who weren't directly under Adams' tutelage at all. Maybe the only original artist was the first caveman who painted on walls.

I believe Mike told me that he knew Terry Austin would be doing the inks on the storyline which include the Adventure Comics 451 page in this gallery. And he tailored his pencils with this in mind. Joe Rubenstein probably inked Mike more often than any other inker. A great example of Rubenstein's inks is the 5 Star Spectacular page. It's interesting to compare Mike's art with Austin inks vs Rubenstein inks. Rubenstein definitely maintained the "Neal Adams" look in Mike's drawing as well as other artists. The art in the Hawks/J'onn J'onzz stories seems more designed. The WF 244 page (also in this gallery) was also inked by Austin is somewhere in between the Adventure 451 page and 5 Star Spectacular page.

So... yeah, I'm a fan.
