Swamp Thing by John Totleben Owner: Terry Maltos Comment posted on 9/5/2007 That is pretty and impressive. John Totleben Swamp Thing brings back good memories of a fantastic series that was at its best with Alan Moore, and the team of Bissette and Totleben. The early 1980s were exciting times in comics made so by emerging series like Swamp Thing, Love and Rockets, Ronin, The Dark Knight, American Flagg, Watchmen. Great acquisition. |

Star Sapphire by Joe Benitez. Owner: Paul Greer Comment posted on 8/17/2007 This is my favorite of your Chicago Con sketches. Two plus points are that it is smoking hot from Benitez and because I've had a crush on Star Sapphire ever since the Broome/Kane days of the mid 1960s. Did Gil design one of the hottest costumes or what for conservative Carol Ferris to squeeze into as Sapphire. Oh my, if it drove Hal half as crazy as it did Li'l Ricky I don't know how he managed his will power. Speaking of will power, you were a demon sketch hound in Chicago. Wish I had the strength. |

Flash 226 ( Green Lantern ) p 8 by Neal Adams / Giordano Owner: Will K Comment posted on 7/30/2007 Congratulations. ANY Neal Adams Green Lantern page is a great page. In fact, I don't think there was a single one at San Diego 2007. I did see a few great Neal Adams covers at great prices. Probably the most interesting prospect was the back cover to the Green Lantern paperback. The drawing was a near cover size recreation of the famous MLK, RFK panel from GL 76. It was gorgeous, but the 35K was a leetle bit tooooooooo much for me. How come I didn't see this at San Diego 91? You must have bought it on the first day. |

Amazing Spider-Man Cover 125 Romita Owner: david safier Comment posted on 7/23/2007 Congratulations. Though I may be old school and think that Steve Ditko is the best Spidey artist, I have to acknowledge that any Spidey Jazzy Johnny Romita cover from the first run is a classic. Wish I had one in my collection. |

Skeezix's First Christmas, Gasoline Alley Daily Strip, 26 December 1921 Owner: C E Comment posted on 7/6/2007 One of the characteristics that I enjoy of Frank King's artwork is the care he used in drawing the moving patterns in the clothes that people wear. I love the movement of Walt's bathrobe in all four of these panels. |

On Stage January 15, 1958 by Leonard Starr Owner: Steven Ng Comment posted on 6/28/2007 That third panel is sweet. Neal ADAMS / Dick GIORDANO; Detective Comics #395, page 9 Owner: J. Hiroshi Morisaki Comment posted on 6/21/2007 I know what you mean about the personal influence of Neal Adams. If not for Neal being the most exciting thing that I had every seen in comics, I might have given up comics for cars, girls, and surfing. Thanks to Neal and Denny, because Denny made those Batman and Green Lantern/Green Arrow stories fun to read, I never gave up on comics. I continue to enjoy the meduim to this day. I feel sad whenever I hear that original art collectors don't read comics today because they've given up on the magic There's always something great to find when you enter a comic book shop. |

Wild Cards cover by Mike Mignola Owner: F M Comment posted on 6/12/2007 Congratulations on this great discovery. I haven't had that kind of fun find in a comic book shop since the early 80s when I found the huge gold Burne Hogarth full size color Sundays Tarzan book in a dark, cramped Kansas City shop. Must be fun shopping in Europe. This Mignola is lovely and creepy. |

Lee / Williams - Fantastic Four, Issue 2, page 15 Owner: - Artemaria Comment posted on 5/9/2007 I have to agree that Lee / Williams are the premiere team of this era. This was made clear with their spectacular work on The Batman. "Hush" was a huge leap beyond their 1990 output --work that had already established them as the best. But comparing them to Adams / Palmer? Now that is sacrilage. :)) Congratulations on this very cool page. |

Page from Superboy No. 117 with the Legion of Super-Heroes Owner: C E Comment posted on 3/9/2007 For me it was August 1963 Adventure 311 when I read "The Legion Of Substitute Heroes Declares War On The Legion Of Super-Heroes." I loved the Ed Hamilton script, the John Forte interiors, the colorful costumes of all of the heroes, and the insanely sexy Night Girl. But it was that Curt Swan George Klein cover the caught my eye. I had been reading comics for a while by 1963, but when I read this issue I became a Legion of Super-Heroes fan. Adventure Comics became the first comic that I tried to buy whenever I saw it on the spinner. As much as I liked Forte (still vastly underrated), when Swan Klein became regulars on the title it was comic book nirvana. These are great Legion pages. Thanks for stirring the memories. |

Will Eisner: Spirit cover comp Owner: Steven Ng Comment posted on 8/3/2006 Hey Steven, that's when I started reading The Spirit also. Didn't Rich Corben color a few of those early Warren Spirits that appeared in Eerie and Creepy right before the first issue of the Warren Spirit? Man, reading those Warren reprints I fell in love with Eisner's work. Picked up all of the Kitchen Sinks also. Congratulations on the nice original. |

Leia and the Hutt Owner: Richard Martines Comment posted on 7/27/2006 Thanks, John. I am in denial about the whole Ewok thing and put the classic scenes of Slave Girl Leia into The Empire, but your correct; Return she is Slave Girl, Empire Princess she still remains. And did you say you have the color piece to this? Are you putting it up soon? That was in the stack that I saw on Wednesday and your color piece was the best piece that Bruce did for The Con this year. Bruce must have been determined to do a great job for you. Wanting to nail the design and attitude Bruce drew four complete variations of this theme before settling on the one he did for you. Each one of the four variations was as fully detailed as this one. One was sold prior to the con, I had my eye on this one if you didn't want it, and I think that two remained unsold. |
