Description

This is one of the illustrations that Paolo Mottura realized for a "Moby Dick" themed exhibition at the CArt Gallery in Rome (March/April 2014). We're talking about the "Moby Dick" Disney parody first published on Topolino (Mickey Mouse) magazine #3003-3004 and then collected in a single volume.

I was there at the opening of the exhibition and was literally in awe looking at those new pieces, most of them in color and a couple of them really HUGE (at least 50 x 70 cm).
Although I already was fortunate enough to own a few pieces of Paolo's Moby Dick, the moment I put my eyes on this piece I knew I had to have it.

It's just perfect.
Look at the colors, the overall atmosphere, the pose of Donald/Ishmael on the hammock... each and every time I look at this piece, I feel relaxed, at peace. It communicates serenity.

If you had the chance to read the story, you know it is dynamic, wild, rushing, there are no breaks. So, this stunningly beautiful picture captures a moment we didn't have the chance to see in the story, a moment of peace and serenity, a moment that also perfectly fits the Donald Duck character.
