DescriptionThis hauntingly lovely blue-pencil sketch is one of the most interesting in my sketchbook, if only because it begs so many questions. The scene is fascinating. Is it meant to be funny? Tragic? What led to this moment? Is the woman mortally wounded? It would seem so, but her reaction seems to be one of confusion or even bemusement. This single moment suggests so many story possibilities.I love the lines of this female figure. She's not the typical buxom comic-book beauty, but there's nevertheless a certain allure to her. She seems a bit on the younger side, perhaps in her late teens. Her short haircut is cute and suggests a rebellious personality somehow. I love the roughness of the sketch. Despite its loose nature, artist Karl Kerschl nevertheless conveys a lot of detail. Look at her fingers and nails. The sketchy lines suggests realistic clothing. Obtained at a con in Toronto in 2002.
