DescriptionThe Miller/Janson run on Daredevil was one of the most memorable in comic book history. And I'm delighted to have picked up one of the covers from that incredible run. I love this cover of Daredevil bravely confronting a rampaging Hulk. To me, it's one of those classic comic book moments. I love the way Miller composed the scene with Daredevil backed into the alley, blood dripping from his mouth, a determined look on his face, holding tightly with both hands to his billy club. We see only a suggestion of the Hulk--his arm, his hand, and his looming shadow, but enough to tell us who it is. The perspective of the scene makes the Hulk appear monstrously huge, fully capable of taking Daredevil down without breaking a sweat. Clearly Daredevil is in for the fight of his life. I love the messy details in the alley--The toppled trash can and broken crates which suggest the brawl has already begun. The inks, by the very talented Klaus Janson, really bring the scene to life.UPDATE: A question was raised about whether Klaus Janson or Joe Rubinstein inked this cover. I contacted Joe Rubinstein and he confirmed that while he inked the interiors of this issue, Klaus Janson inked the cover. Social/Sharing |

OK Bill, you've done it again (made me green with envy). I wasn't a big DD reader until the FM stories but this one was truly memorable due to the Hulk on the cover (which took me a while to find for sale). Congrats - great score!

Gosh darn it Bill, someone must've told you about my hand fetish. LOL! So who cares if the Hulk's arm is bigger than the DD figure on this cover. That huge paw really does it for me on this beauty. It's classic, vintage, Miller DD, and one of the most memorable covers from the legendary run. You've been pretty quiet for a while, so I knew something big was coming. Huge congrats on this gem! Wow!

Uhh, WHOA! A classic cover to say the least, and one of Miller's best IMO. Just so much of his talent on display in this one image from a storytelling/dramatic standpoint to the pure illustration. Congrats!

I’m not a Miller worshiper by far and strangely this cover seems a bit less effective without the colors (the menacing green hand and the terrifying purple knee) BUT we geeks KNOW who it is on the far right. This is an incredible cover, telling a story in itself and enticing the reader to open the book, from a legendary run indeed.

I saw this yesterday, closed the browser window, and spent the rest of the day in a haze - pondering life, art, and the cosmos in an ecclesiastic mind-seizure that Starlin would have been envious of.
Congrats on this.

I love the perspective Miller chose. It really pulls you into the scene almost as if the viewer is a bystander. It accentuates Daredevil's plight by depicting him as a small figure almost hiding in the background and emphasizes the Hulk as a huge, frighteningly unknowable threat by hogging the foreground while rendering very little of the actual character. Amazing addition to your already impressive collection.

Amazing- congrats!! As a teen my buddy Brian and I bought this cover from Frank for $100 (and others). That month we sold it for $300 at the local Los Angeles comic con. We thought we were so fortunate (and smart lol) for figuring out a way to generate money at such a young age. Little did we know..... Of all the flips we did as youths this was my favorie Miller cover we held in our hands for such a short period of time. I hope you enjoy it for a good long time.

I don't think I could ever own this cover. It wracks my nerves. That's a testament to Miller and Janson's skill to create suspense. Oh my.

Within a one week period, you post two incredible covers by two artists identified with each character that changed the course of how we, the rabid collecting public, understand the character's respective development. Post 1978, McFarlane was the artist for the ASM, and Miller was the artist for the DD. What else can I write that has not been written, but another.....Congratulations!

This is stellar! Wonderful sense of space of depth in this cover. I also love how Daredevil is "surrounded" with the Hulk in front and his shadow behind.
