Almost the first mention of the Headmen, the greatest supervillain team of all time – but beaten to that title by the “Next” box on the last page of the previous issue. And no appearance of the baffling foes on this page either, which wraps up the two-part crossover with Ben Grimm (Two-in-One #7 and Defenders #20). I was so pleased when I first read that story that my favourite member of the Fantastic Four teamed up with the Defenders, in a brilliant Gerber penned tale of Barbara Norris’ past and the Undying Ones. And this page has that FF-style ‘family feel’, with Doctor Strange and Nighthawk waving goodbye to the Thing. So many good memories from this page.

Loved those stories. The Headmen were typical whacky Defended villains even if the name has not aged well.
