Dark and less traditional supernatural tales that indulged in horror set this title apart from the normal super hero fare. Sutton takes the Buscema storytelling and goes wild with details. The opportunity to bring this type of story back to mainstream comics led to invigorated and inspired quality along the entire Marvel lineup.

FWUNT origin page! I guess that's what it sounds like when one jumps inside of a bog creature. Good to know. Sutton's inks/finishes look fantastic over Buscema's layouts. Unmistakably JB's style, but with those great Sutton embellishments. Agreed on that sweet Captain Fate bust panel. Great find. Congrats!

Damn, I'm pretty sure this is the page (comiclink auction?) I really should have gone higher (but if it is you would have probably just spent more) because Sutton really gets into the decayed details for the pirates.

One of the very best depictions of Man-Thing! The textures are unworldly, breathtaking. Big John and Sutton were reaching new heights with this storyline. Incredible!
