Golden has a magical way of including a lot of characters in a single panel, splash or cover and having them look natural and not crammed togegher.  This is just another great example of that.

Beauty of a cover!

Looks like 2022 is shaping up to be a monster year for you buddy.  You didn't just go out and get a vintage Golden Avengers cover, you got an Avengers cover that also includes half the Marvel universe on it.  There's hardly room on this page for anyone else, but I'm sure if there was a wraparound cover with double the space and double the characters, you would have that too!  Then again, it's only March, so maybe I spoke too soon!  Ha!

I had never read this issue and I always wondered why the Avengers would defeat villains and superheroes alike? Seeing most of the Marvel universe on this cover was quite a sight to see!

I love the warning on the cover basically saying that the story inside doesn't live up to Golden's spectacular image.  Sadly, the warning was true (in my humble opinion).

This is clearly one of the all-time best What If? covers ever published and a classic early career Golden cover with more characters than you can shake a stick at. It is not in the least surprising that it has made its way into your collection and I must say, it looks mighty fine here, Bill!

Well, What If, I guess Marvel would have had a lot less stories. Avenged. This is definitely my favorite What If cover. Fantastic layout by Golden, and I love that he used DDs old costume. Super sweet score. Congrats!

Classic time period of Michael Golden at his best doing what we love about his artwork.  Heroes or Villains, they all bow to the power of the Avengers and to the mighty hand of Golden.    

Maybe the Golden Rule should be Golden RULES!  Remember getting this off the stands for that cover alone, huge congrats!!

Amazing cover from an artist who understood how to make comics that were fun and dramatic!
From the moment I saw this cover, I used a glowing Altoid breath mint from my coat pocket to view over 14,000,605 possible futures, and out of millions of variable timelines, I found one single sequence of events that allowed me any chance of owning it myself. In this alternate future I engage the services of Michael Golden to draw a little rectangular art patch with Dr. Doom's legs and Sandman's shoulder, because there is no alternate timeline in the infinite multiverse where I've learned to accept that UPC box on Marvel's covers.
This spins off an additional 14,000,605 possible futures and, with a 1% margin of error, there are none of them where I survive being burned at the stake as a heretic by fellow comic art fans.

There is something sui generis about Golden -- he seems to have sprung from some mysterious source, fully formed.  This cover is magic and shows why he is still so revered.  This cover also shows how Golden can create drama effortessly.  A beautiful cover and a great addition to your amazing collection.  Congratulations!
