DescriptionOkay we've made a HUGE leap forward in progress haven't we? I'm extremely proud to say that I've rendered the tunic, complete with the red lining pattern in the fabric. I couldn't have Supergirl soaring against just basic white. Admittedly, the shade of blue on Melissa Benoist's costume was a bit of a headache to figure out. But that's what swatches are for, right? The tones I used were B69, B79, B24 and B60 (the latter two for highlights). I've also included Prismacolor hard lead pencils to add more textural detail. The red prismacolor pencils I used was thin enough and believable enough to be there on the tunic as the red lining pattern. As for the shield, I incorporated R24, R29, and R46 with a Burnt Umber hard lead pencil crayon to give that chrome stripe. However, the scan seemed to show the yellow gel outline I put around the shield white. I'll try and correct that during editing. As for the larger figure of Kara, I began with the arm, using minimal flesh tones in the E values. Because she's not really there, I'm trying to make her look a little more ethereal with a "less is more" approach to rendering. Further, I intend the distinguish it from the main figure by outlining the details with P747 Prismacolor Verethin hard lead pencil crayon. And finally, the sky shot was achieved with a different choice than B24. Using a sky photo, I incorporated values B02 and B00, the latter when coming close to the cloud formation. I also diluted the color and established weaker cloud formations with hard lead Prismacolor white. White out was too messy and liquid gel white the same. I will render the clouds soon, especially since Kara's likeness in the right is meant to be "framed" within the large formation I thought up on the spot. In the meantime, I hope my client is satisfied with this so far and my luck holds out till completion.Social/Sharing |
