Description
The back cover of Clowes' 2016 book Patience describes it as "a cosmic timewarp deathtrip to the primordial infinite of everlasting love". Would you buy this book based on that description?

I found it to be a deeply touching reflection on love and loss. Patience - which is both the name of the main character's murdered wife and what he must do to try live with his loss and ultimately fail to regain his previous life - is a story about things gone wrong. A life is taken away, an obsessive search to find out who murdered her, a focus on time traveling back to before the murder - while failing at his goals, the main character also fails to notice that his actions have become his life.

Clowes is unique, especially in long form as here in Patience and more recently in Monica. It takes me a few readings before I feel I truly understand how Clowes matches theme and action. I am pleased to have this almost finished draft cover.

Another winner, Doug. Don't see a lot of pages or preliminary work from his later books so this is a real treat.

Great prelim.  You inspired me to reread this.  At first reading, I might have missed some things.

Patience isn't just a virue here.  Those power lines behind her show how high of a pedestal Jack placed her in life and even more in death.
