Rygar Rygar, burning bright, 

In the power ups of the fight; 

What in Tecmo hand and eye, 

Could frame by cheerful Dexter Wee

In art distant deep ink lines. 

Turn Warrior in thine eyes?

And what inks dare he aspire?

What a man! Dare seize Ligar.

And what Sun Power, & what art,

Could twist continues of thy heart?

And when Rygar began to beat.

What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What Diskarmor? Off the chain,

In what furnace was thy flame?

What the pencil? What’s best grasp.

Dare its deadly colors clash?

When the star throws down with fear 

And water'd heaven with their cheers:

Did Wee smile his work to see?

Did Wee who made the mystery?

Rygar Rygar burning bright,

In the contest of the night:

Art immortal hand or eye,

Dare frame thy careful Dexter Wee?

While I did not own Rygar, I definitely remember renting it and not being good at it! Like most NES games, it was quite difficult, but I certainly tried! I did like his uinique weapon. Anywho, great art and I really do appreciate these NES subjects!

Ohh yea I def remember the NES version of Rygar, an early Metroidvania style platformer - and really tough game to get good at! Love the NES themed commission ideas, cool piece!

My mom wasn't terribly supportive of video games, so I never really had a system growing up (yup, I was "that kid" with "those parents"... ;) ), so I'm afraid I can only smile and nod and pretend to know what you're talking about, but I do love Dexter's color choices here, as well as Rygar's face and hair.  A fun choice of commission that I can tell gets you fired up... which makes this one a winner!  Congrats, K!
