Description

Another gorgeous David Wright �lovely�, but this one with the subtlest drop of the figure's dress off her shoulder combined wiith a sharp turn of her head in the same direction providing its 'invitation' and understated eroticism.

This piece, entitled �Everything Under Control�, was a pin-up done in original goauche and included in the January 22, 1944, edition of Sketch Magazine, the British illustrated weekly journal (primarily a society magazine) that ran for almost 3,000 issues from 1893 to 1959.

This piece was also featured on page 64 of Terry Parker�s �Sirens: The Pin-Up Art of David Wright�, the definitive examination of David Wright�s commercial illustration and pin-up work.

Yes, the dress off her shoulder is absolutely an attempt to sell her sexuality in the most incredibly subtle way! And once again, Wright got the perfect tilt of the head and look in her eyes. Fabulous!

A bit of Donna Reed and Lauren Bacall . . . this really captures the beauty of women during this period.
