DescriptionJust finished reading the final trade paperback of The Walking Dead this evening and, already missing it, decided to post my favorite Charlie Adlard cover in tribute to this remarkable series. I started reading TWD in 2008 through the trade paperbacks, and it's been my favorite ongoing title ever since; I'm sad to see it come to an end, but, respect the creative process and the decision to go out on a high note. Thank you to Messrs. Kirkman, Adlard, Moore, Gaudiano and Rathburn for all the wonderful art & stories.Anyway, this is the cover to The Walking Dead Omnibus #1 hardcover from 2005, which also happens to be Adlard's first cover for the franchise. This wraparound cover features most of the principal cast from the earliest part of the series (issues #1-24), which were among my favorite issues (overall, the beginning of the series to the end of the Governor/prison storyline, and then the aftermath of All Out War through the series finale were my favorite stretches of the story). This is one of several pieces in my collection that I deeply regretted missing out on when they were previously available, so I was very thankful to eventually get another bite at the apple about a year and a half ago (thanks to the previous owner)! Super cool piece! The walking dead really helped reinvigorate my love of comics. The pages I have were the first art I’ve ever purchased. Just a wonderful series, and this is a wonderful piece, Gene, I love it!

I have a feeling this will finally stay put for a while now. And that previous owners will all be kicking themselves (if they're not already). The one franchise that is virtually guaranteed to inspire nostalgia down the line. Congrats, Gene...whatever you paid, it was worth it!

I'd still argue this is the best cover from the series. A really tremendous piece, and great to see in person!!
