Description

This was the first Herriman original that I bought. I liked it, in part, because it was easy to read and to understand without re-reading. I have grown more patient with his use of the English language, or something like it, in the intervening years.

Does ANYONE know the meaning of the symbols used here and in many other places, e.g., a circle with an "X" inside and a lightening bolt with a dot? They usually appear together, and I have yet to read or hear of the origins or purposes of these symbols.

I had wanted a Krazy Kat for more than 20 years before I finally bought one. i strongly believe that it's best to wait until something you really like to turn up instead of settling for an example which doesn't completely satisfy you. Although I never sold any art for several decades, prices eventually went up so much that I couldn't justify keeping all that I had and make purchases purely out of my income. I have never bought any art with the expectation that I would sell it someday, and I can't recall a single piece that I grew tired of over time. But I eventually started selling some pieces in order to obtain newer, more important art -- especially when I had multiple pieces by one artist, even George Herriman.
