KA-BOOM!!!!!!!!! There's the biggest firecracker of the new year so far. And of course I am not at all surprised to find it in your phenomenal collection. Congratulations and happy new year my friend.
Such an iconic Xmen cover from the Byrne area. The Xmen going toe to toe with the greatest X villian, the mast of magnetism. Hige congratulations to another epic acquisition Bill. Cheers!

Effing Fantastic, Bill!
That is fantastic, Bill - what an amazing addition to your gallery.
Oh wow Bill, it's only the first week of the year - this is amazing! Gonna be tough to follow!

Sweet. Congrats.
Greatest X-Men cover
Ralph Kramden said it best, "Homina, Homina, Homina!" Huge congrats!
Congrats Bill! Exciting!
Incredible cover.
Surely this must mean the collection is complete! Congrats buddy!
BEST COVER OF THE YEAR!!!!!!! Congrats Bill!
Well. That's top shelf.
Many congratulations, Bill! I fondly remember when this cover first came to market, oh, some 17 years ago or so. The entire hobby was excited about it. It's crazy to think that even by today's standards, what it sold for back then was a ton of money. But since I know you paid many MORE tons, I won't mention it here. 😇
That's a win win!! Congrats, Bill.
Well that's epic!!!
Mind. BLOWN !!! KA-BOOOOOOOOM! Major congrats, Bill, this is a beautiful and historic cover.
Now that I see it.. I realize that I have never ever seen this issue before in my life and I had a ton of xmen's growing up! Just an incredible fight scene. Imagine Byrne getting the job and deciding to what he wanted to do for his first cover! Clearly he was excited and that translates into such am awesome work of art! Incredible pick up my friend. Huge Congrats!!
Beautiful! Stuff of legends.
This one's firing on all cylinders. Another gem for the truly impressive collection. Congrats and enjoy for many years to come.
I feel that what this comment section lacks is my own observation that this is a beautifully rendered cover of immeasurable historic and nostalgic importance, and that it is a rare and wonderful thing that we mere mortals can be caretakers for such graily artifacts. I said it... it's out there... damn the consequences!
Absolutely incredible!! Congrats!
Historical and beautiful Excellent addition to an outstanding collection
I lava it ! :)
A Xmen cover by Byrne ? With the whole team and Magneto ? Touchdown !! Thank's for sharing
Congratulations Bill; This is beyond Amazing..!
When you open your museum Bill ? I definitelly need to book some ticket !:) Huge congratulations.
Congrats Bill! Very excited for you and know how much this cover meant to you!
What an amazing addition to your collection > Congrats!!!
Holy pretzel! My face got aflame like paprika. I lava this!
When Falls Magneto...and my jaw! This is an amazing Byrne cover. Great action and beautiful work. Hard to believe it's his first, it feels mid-run and established. Big congrats!
Oh, wow! This is definitely something else! I remember picking that issue on the shelf, thinking that, after all the good stuff that had already been put out, things were now kicking in to overdrive and then anything was now possible for the X-Men (and Women)! Needless to say I (among a billion other fans) was not disappointed... Well, as you say, this one has it all!
Congrats, Bill!
You said it: it's not just a Byrne X-Men cover, but the FIRST Byrne X-Men cover! And one with the team taking on Magneto on top of that!
Congrats! A fantastic piece of comic book history!
This is awesome!! Huge congrats!
OH! ... not bad ...
Holy moley! What an insane addition. Congrats.
You have chosen... wisely!! One of the best an' only my 2nd Byrne or All-New X-Men comic ever, huge congrats!!
Just WOW!!! I don't think there is anything else I can add. Thank you for sharing this great addition to your amazing collection.
Incredible Byrne goodness. A worthy addition to your museum!
Amazing cover from my second issue of X-men I ever bought! Such a memorable story! Congrats!
Great score, congrats!!
Historic, epic, amazing, beautiful! All those and more are perfect descriptors for this piece. So cool to see it! Thanks for sharing and very huge congrats to you!
Superb cover. And a direct blow from Colossus... OUCH !
Not just a Bryne cover, but his first one! What an amazing acquistion. It's also great to see Byrne paired with Layton. Congratulations!
Wow! First Byrne cover. This tops them all!
Just Epic Bill, cornerstone piece for a brilliant collection!
My God...
So memorable, all the X-Men, battling Magneto, Wowza!
You were able to grab an X-Men cover with the full team fighting their greatest foe by, arguably, their greatest artist (certainly the artist who turned each monthly issue into a special event). Cheers!
As you said, historic AND epic!
CLASSIC!!!
Just when I think Ive seen it all...you pull me back in! Congrats Bill!
Oh wow!!! Congrats! Love this cover :)
stellar art!! wow
YOU ARE KILLING ME!!! THE FIRST COMIC I BOUGHT WAS X-MEN 112, ASM 161, Ghost Rider 31, Iron Man 90, Incredible Hulk 213 .. to name a few.. But I couldn't wait to buy 113. You have got to be kidding me!!!! This is so great! In a crazy world we live in today it is such a blessing to see this beautiful cover and be taken back for a second to the days of my youth going to "Stop and Go" (which is kind of the Circle K and Seven 11, Chevron Now ..(long before comic book stores) and spinning the comic rack to find the next issue. Thanks for making my day!
Amazing cover. Nice way to start the new year. Thanks for sharing!
SERIOUS congrats, Bill! Good heavens - I remember when I saw this cover for the first time when I was a kid; I was transfixed by the detail and "threat level" present for our heroes... I mean, fighting Magneto is always bad enough, but with Wolverine down, Storm incapacitated, Nightcrawler figuring out his next move, Phoenix holding back the lava... All while in the middle of A COLLAPSING VOLCANO?!!? Are you kidding me?!!? What happens, Bill? WHAT HAPPENS?!!? I hope you post the rest of the pages from the issue soon, so I can find out... ;)
Incredible add to your astonishing collection, Bill. Sincere congrats, and thank you for sharing it with us here.
Wooooo!! Letting out a Ric Flair exclamation for you here, Bill! A great piece of art and so SO historic - Byrne's first X-Men cover?! Just when I think I couldn't be more amazed with your adds I'm proven wrong. Big congrats, man!
Ridiculously Crazy!!!
One of the best X-Men covers from the run! Simply a perfect piece! Congratulations!
Great cover from an epic run! Congrats!!
This is INSANE!
Perfection !!
Wow, what can I say that hasn't already been said! A Grail in any collection!
Congrats on another historic page not only in the X-Men world but a Byrne cover at that.
Absolute Atomic Grail, Bill. My jaw literally dropped when I saw this, and I was instantly transported back in time to when I was a kid picking these classics up for the first time. The Claremont/Byrne/Austin team remain one of the best of all time, true craftsmen in every respect.
Historic piece which still retains every iota of it's power that it had for me decades ago.
Buckethead getting his just desserts....!
Outside of Dave Mandel's GS X-Men 1 cover post from 10 years ago, you rarely see comments take off like the ones that you have received on your posting for this cover, Byrne's first X-Men cover. In just three plus months, you have secured over 90 comments. Incredible! This is just another cover that you should go into a museum one day - the Bill Museum of Comic Art in Minnesota (BMOCAIM). How does that sound?
My absolute favorite from your infinite collection of wonder
When this cover was for sale i went crazy and sold my comicbook collection but that was not enough so i planned to sell my appartement!! Hopefully Bill grabbed it first and i still have me home...
Plain awesome for an awesome collection!
Wow, fantastic cover. First Byrne, such a great battle scene.
What a great 1st cover by Byrne.
So good- early Byrne, Magneto, Phoenix, and the full lineup in an action scene. Huge congrats on this cover!
A Byrne X-Men cover? This is top of the mountain stuff!
You have one of the most amazing collections I have ever seen. WOW!!!
It is so easy to agree with all that has been said before, and even all that praise may not even be enough for this cover. It is not easy to get 100 comments on CAF, and it is a reflection of this cover's magnitude that so many collectors, who themselves have amazing collections, were moved to speak out.
I also note that the "original" unpublished cover is slightly different and we can see it in Nelson Animated Ink's gallery (at least as of this writing, who knows who will show what piece at what time :). So we can get a rare glimpse behind the curtain of some of the decisions that were made in creating this masterpiece.
Congratulations on a truly uncannily historic acquisition!
Well, look at this historic gem! Wow. Congrats Bill.
Byrne X-Men...the pinnacle of the hobby
What an action packed cover! So much detail and craft was poured onto this one. Congrats Bill.
I know I'm joining the chorus of praise but this piece actually deserves it. This is one of my favorite covers. A dynamic and exciting perfect cover by a master at the top of his game.
I'd buy that for a dollar!
Bill, this part of the Byrne/Austin X-men run from 111-116 was the very best! Congrats on owning this historic cover
Time I left a comment on this jaw-dropping piece! Insane! Absolutely insane Byrne X-Men!
#108! I hadn't seen this yet. Bill, this is a whopper. An honest to goodness, Mighty Marvel whopper!!!
Congratulations!!!!!
Holy Moly, beautiful work. Congrats!
("Now On Sale Monthly!") - a .35 cent sensation!
