Alex Toth - Adventure #418 page 4 - Black Canary (1972) Owner: Mark Tomlinson Comment posted on 5/25/2022 This is a masterclass in Toth, like the encyclopedia entry on him should have this as the illustration. Five stars and I guess anotherway to put it is: OOOWWOOWUKKKKKK! |

Hi Glen -- I just added a 2nd pic I took at the convention of S. Clay Wilson and Spain flipping the bird, it's "blurry" because it was a 3D pic... and you were only 9 back then?? ![]() Yep. If this was the convention at Pauley Ballroom on Sproul Plaza, that was my first, and I would have been nine. I think Richard Kyle was there, but I wouldn't meet him for another 20 years. |

Hello Glen! ![]() Oh, thank you so much. You and I were looking at the same dealer catalogues at the same time, I think. I knew p. 11 was around here somewhere: https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=669824 |

Gene Colan-DareDevil #57-p14 1969 Owner: Don Emery Comment posted on 3/7/2022 This is gorgeous! When I was a kid, Shores on Colan never worked, but that was just because the printing technology blew so thoroughly. It's a great match - everything is shadows and soft edges. And the choreography is wonderful. |

Jack Kirby-Captain America #104-p3 1968 Owner: Don Emery Comment posted on 3/7/2022 Interesting - do you know what/if he inked anything here? I have long heard he inked only page 11, the Nick Fury page. I'd love to learn something new! |

Captain America #211 pg 23 Jack Kirby (1977) Red Skull vs Sharon Carter! Owner: Rick Verbanas Comment posted on 2/13/2022 I bought this page directly from Roz in 1994 when the Estate was splitting the book up - it was clearly the coolest! Nice pick up - you can cut yourself on those inks. |

*Kamandi (and Mr. Saker) unpublished cover PURE KIRBY PENCILS!!!! Owner: Robert Porterfield Comment posted on 1/16/2022 Always loved this - it's a fantastic composition. Curious to see here that it's a cover - the position of Mr. Saker's head would have been under the stats - I always assumed, given the action shown, it was a chapter splash, but still - great image. |

I think so too. It has been trying to find me for the past 21 years. ![]() You're lucky the restoration of the Salvator Mundi stopped before they found that mysterious "Para Goffredo" on the verso. |

Stuntman 3, story page 8 Owner: Aaron N. Comment posted on 9/26/2021 This is a gorgeous page - one of the best Golden Age Kirby pages I've ever seen. You really nail the dynamics in your description. I think Jack knew how to draw fights before the war from having beaten up guys, but I think he only knew how to draw combat after coming back. Congrats on picking this up, and you must know the only thing that would really complete this is having the color guide. |

Young Romance #20 (April 1950) Splash Owner: Harry M Comment posted on 9/25/2021 I somehow missed this for four years. It's just terriifc - pre-code, so it reflects all the emotions, and it isn't aimed at kids. I love all the things already mentioned in the comments but just wanted to point out that her belt would look pretty good on Princess Zanda, Morgan LaFey or Thena of the Eternals. |

Barry Windsor Smith / Bill Everett - Astonishing Tales 6 page 9 Owner: Mark Levy Comment posted on 8/14/2021 This is gorgeous. Everett figured out how to ink Smith way before anyone else did. It's so cool when an inker can bring out the best in such different pencilers as Smith and (say) Kirby. Thanks for showing this off. And it's not "perhaps" a prototype - seize the reins of the narrative, dude -- if anyone wants to buy this it is DEFINITELY the first appearance of Stom's mohawk. ; ) |

Interior of Collectors Book Store at Hollywood Blvd. Location Owner: C E Comment posted on 6/5/2021 I visited Cherokee and Collectors in 1973 or so, buying almost-complete runs of Tales to Astonish and The Hulk for about 50 cents each - so I could read the whole Hulk saga. Glen, I think it says "Make July for Chicago". I'm not sure why the powers-that-be would want it to run a month later in Chicago, but I noticed that as well. ![]() Clearly, Chicago Frecklefest 1919 was postponed till July that year. |

George Herriman - 1919 Krazy Kat Sunday Page - Ignatz's Freckles Owner: Rob Stolzer Comment posted on 4/21/2021 Such great magic all around. Do we know why it had to only go to Chicago? And that freckle lotion seems very...specific. Is that a parody of some then-well-known bottle? |
