Description"Museum quality" is a huge misnomer in this hobby, considering that very little comic art actually makes it into museums, but these Herriman Krazy Kat color presentation drawings actually are "museum quality" in the literal sense - I saw one most recently in 2012 at no less august an institution than the Museum of Modern Art in New York City! Anyway, these watercolor & ink pieces are gorgeous, and Herriman's genius never ceases to awe and entertain me. After keeping my eyes open for the "right" color Krazy Kat piece for a long while, I'm very happy that my ship finally came in with this lovely example featuring nice large images of the three principal characters and some krazy dialogue as well - yezza! In this example, Ignatz prepares to hunt quail with a cannon! Simply a gorgeous Herriman watercolor and ink presentation drawing, signed and inscribed on the lower left: "To lil ole `Arthur Escallier' the prince imperial of Temecula - in memory of one grand day on the San Luis Rey - from Geo. Herriman" Published in Krazy Kat & The Art of George Herriman (Abrams, 2011), pp. 102-103. Social/Sharing |

Beautiful Herriman piece Gene! Those Herriman Krazy Kat color pieces are remarkable to see in person, and are not easy to acquire. Certainly museum quality and one of CAF's best pieces. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

Very nice, Gene. I'm not very familiar with Krazy Kat, but this is the first I've seen of a watercolor. What it must feel like to receive something like this in the mail in 1930 from Herriman...

Ignatz with a gun? What were Officer Pup and Krazy thinking? Terrific example.
