Description

Creating the Disney parody of Friz Lang's masterpiece, the movie "Metropolis", is no easy task, but Francesco Artibani (writer) and Paolo Mottura (artist) are for sure up to the task, as they already demonstrated with other adaptations (e.g. Moby Dick).

For a long time in the works, the story has been finally published on Topolino magazine #3189 and it's a blast!
In the meantime (from when the story was announced to when was published), Paolo had the chance to realize a few illustrations and commissions on the subject. Here's one of them.

Topp Topper (Mickey Mouse), the robot with the appearance of Miss Minny (Minnie Mouse), the workers in the factory, the peculiar architecture of the city as background... the scene is dramatic, Paolo somehow mixed his style with the german expressionism and the result is nothing less than amazing. The sepia color, the rusty look, is a terrific choice, too.
You can also notice how he played with the "R" on the name so it's Metopolis/Metropolis, Disney title vs original movie title.
