Description
Merry Christmas! Cain, Eve and Abel have managed to sneak into Santa’s Workshop – allegedly to help and not hinder his Christmas preparations. Hiding in his sleigh, the troublesome trio aim to regale Santa with stories of mishaps, misery and disaster, in true Plop fashion, as he sets out on his journey to deliver presents to boys and girls around the world. What could possibly go wrong?

Sergio has put in so much background detail (as usual) for all of Santa’s toys, including a MAD hot air ballon toy (“What, me worry?”). One toy soldier looks to be about to march off the shelf. The title page was the start of the 3-pager entitled “A Ploppy Christmas”, and of course the story continued throughout the issue to provide introductions to the hosts’ tales.

Perfectly timed post with enough Aragones detail to fill all the children's stockings!

Thanks Rick! You're right - plenty of toys for the kids on the 'good list'. None for these three.

Something tells me this crew may still be delivering presents on Boxing Day! I love me some good Christmas themed art, super fun Sergio Aragones title page!

Ha ha! Yes, not the Christmas A-Team. As I recall, Santa dumped them out of the sleigh before Boxing Day...

Thanks, Dewey. There don't seem to be a lot of these around. The Easter title splash from #5 was sold on Heritage some years back, but I don't recall seeing another one.

Great vintage Aragones!  A madhouse of gifts featuring our macabre hosts!

Thanks, Marcus. It makes it all the better for me, as Plop 10 was quite an early comic purchase for me. Those Aragones title pages are all imprinted on my brain.

Aragones' style always amazes me with his attention to detail and the expression of his subjects he draws. His cartooning style is whimsical but his level of work always command the eye to search each panel so not to miss anything

So true! It's the same in his MAD work and Groo.

What a cool title splash with Sergio "plopizing" the DC horror hosts in his humorous signature style.  Great stuff!!!

Always a treat to see an Aragones take on established maninstream characters...  but odds are probably good that the whole thing may turn into a bit of a trick, too...? (unintentionally, of course! ;) )  Leave it to Cain and Abel to put the Halloween into Christmas!  Sergio's beautiful details are particularly resplendent in Santa's holiday workshop (I love the fact that the piece of wood cut out of the board being held by the vice to the left of Cain is right below it on the workbench), but most especially the MAD blimp ("To: SANTA!  Love, Bill") with the 'What Me Worry?' sail, wheels, and anchor (showing much more versatility than Santa's sleigh)!  Beautiful holiday post, Paul!  Happy Christmas to you (and all on CAF)! :)

Thanks for such a detailed analysis, Jason. It did always seem odd that there were two very distinct sets of hosts, and the insertion of horror into the ridiculous was exactly what made Plop work so well. A Merry Christmas to you and yours too.

Really "plopping" classic mid-1970s page, as always crowded with so many sick details by the master of fast drawing fun ! I love his great DC horror one-pagers (look up mine, :) !

I have never seen this one before, yet another classic from our beloved living legend!  They don't make em like Sir Aragones anymore!

I had completely forgotten about Plop! until I saw this post.  What a trip down memory lane!  Great splash by Sergio.
